RSPB Birdlife survey
Following our commisioning of a" whole farm bird survey by the RSPB"we are pleased to report that they have identified a total of 54 seperate species of" breeding" birds within the confines of the Estate. There are of course many more visitors during the year.We are especially proud of the large no of breeding Sand Martin & adjacent "Featherstone Oyster Catcher"s which forms the largest inland breeding colony in the UK.Not foregetting the tremendous sight of the thousands of Starlings as they make there aerial dance over the the Lambley reed beds and it"s visiting Otter cubs as they swoop to avoid the diving Sarrow Hawks. Its a spectacle not to be missed! For a full list of the breeding birds please visit our info page.P.s did I mention that Geltsdale the RSPBs largest Upland Nature Reserve is only 5 mins away with free access!!!
